Jagratha Samiti

Jagratha Samiti

The Jagratha Samiti is a local-level vigilance and protection forum dedicated to ensuring the rights, safety, physical and mental well-being, and life security of women and children. It works constantly to prevent violence, rights violations, and social exclusion targeting women and children at the grassroots level.

To establish an effective protection system, the Jagratha Samiti intervenes instantly in matters requiring urgent attention. It actively maps and monitors abandoned locations or high-risk spots, and guides vulnerable individuals in utilizing the legal safety nets and welfare mechanisms available to them.

★ Objectives & Goals

  1. Protection and Justice: Protect the rights of women and children. Ensure strong interventions and immediate remedies against violence, discrimination, exploitation, and injustice.
  2. Grievance Redressal: Accept any complaint where a woman or a child is an affected party, resolving it quickly through direct interventions or emergency support networks.
  3. Institutional Escalation: Forward complaints and critical issues that cannot be resolved at the local level to the District Jagratha Samiti, the Women's Commission, other government departments, or legal aid agencies, ensuring that the results track back down to the grassroots level.
  4. Inter-Agency Coordination: Coordinate with state-level agencies and welfare schemes meant for safeguarding women and girls. Streamline and align the operations of three similar-goal agencies alongside the Jagratha Samiti.
  5. Safe Social Environment: Implement widespread community initiatives to build a healthy social atmosphere where zero forms of violence or harassment against women and children exist.
  6. Community Gatherings: Form various grassroot-level groups and leverage public platforms to achieve the core safety goals of the committee.
  7. Social Auditing & Support: Provide continuous social monitoring, vigilance, and community support to protect women and children from exploitative environments.
